Project Description

MacKay Sposito partnered with Covalent Architecture to support Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF) in transforming a commercial building into the Ruby Bridges Early Learning Center. Located just east of Fort Vancouver High School, the project aimed to expand access to early childhood education in Southwest Washington. EOCF, a non-profit organization dependent on community donations, needed a cost-effective solution to support its mission and fit the site’s many constraints.

Our team led a detailed site planning process, prioritizing stormwater management, traffic flow, and parking. We addressed significant challenges such as stormwater runoff, tight site dimensions, and the need for a dedicated bus drop-off zone. Through a series of design iterations, we successfully minimized the footprint of site improvements while maximizing functionality and safety. The facility is now complete and serving the community’s youngest learners.
