Project Description
The Old Town Battle Ground Stormwater Retrofit project is a critical component of the City’s broader initiative to revitalize its historic downtown while improving water quality in Woodin Creek. Supported by an Ecology grant, this effort builds on previous work completed by MacKay Sposito under the Old Town Subarea Plan. The project focuses on developing cost-effective, maintainable stormwater solutions that meet strict regulatory requirements while being tailored to the site’s challenging physical conditions, including flat topography, low-infiltration soils, and aging infrastructure.
MacKay Sposito’s proposed approach strategically prioritizes high-impact areas like Main Street and City-owned properties to avoid private property impacts and reduce permitting hurdles. MacKay Sposito’s local experience, proven track record with the City, and deep understanding of stormwater modeling and Department of Ecology grant compliance ensured the project met grant funding requirements and deadlines to position the City for pursuing construction funding grants.
