Project Description

The NW Lake Road and NW Sierra Street Intersection Improvements project addresses safety and operational challenges at a key three-legged intersection in Camas, Washington, where daily traffic volumes approach 12,000 vehicles. MacKay Sposito led a comprehensive design and evaluation process, including alternative analysis for a new traffic signal or a roundabout, right-of-way acquisition, environmental permitting, and public outreach. Our team’s deep familiarity with Camas’ infrastructure, design standards, and community engagement practices actively informed the design process, helping shape a thoughtful, locally grounded solution.

The project aims to improve turning movements, mitigate limited sight distance, and enhance multi-modal access for pedestrians and cyclists. Leveraging our extensive background in similar transportation projects, MacKay Sposito is proposing design options that preserve existing infrastructure where feasible and minimize impacts on private properties. Our collaborative approach involves coordinating with utilities, permitting agencies, and community members to ensure the final design aligns with the city’s vision, schedule, and budget. These improvements will ease congestion, reduce crash risk, and support the city’s long-term mobility goals. The result will be a safer, more accessible intersection that better serves the community, schools, and local neighborhoods.
