Project Description
The Klickitat Hatchery Spring Chinook Project included comprehensive upgrades to support increased smolt production and improve fish health. Key improvements involved rehabilitating and consolidating the spring water intake and pipeline, as well as upgrading the river water intake pumps and filtration system. The project also replaced the existing Chinook Salmon pollution abatement pond with a new in-line treatment system and modernized the fish ladder for improved fish passage.
Additional enhancements included the installation of new adult-holding raceways, spawning infrastructure, and a circular tank aquaculture system designed with precise soil and foundation preparations. These tanks required carefully finished surfaces to prevent injury to fish during handling and rearing. The project also introduced a new chemical storage building and upgraded hatchery security and alarm systems, ensuring operational efficiency and biosecurity.
