Project Description
MacKay Sposito led the master planning, design, and permitting for Gee Creek Trail to establish a regional pedestrian and bicycle connection through Ridgefield, linking the wildlife refuge in the north to the high school and recreation center in the south. The plan provided a conceptual alignment and cross-sections to connect fragmented trail segments and guide future development.
Following the plan, MacKay Sposito designed and supported the construction of the first trail segment, a half-mile ADA-accessible path from Abrams Park to Heron Drive, adjacent to wetland areas. To align with budget cycles, the trail was built in phases, starting with a crushed rock surface later paved with asphalt. Our services included project management, civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, construction support, and environmental permitting. The project also delivered environmental benefits through invasive species removal and creek bank stabilization.
