Celebrating a New Beginning in Roseville: Ribbon Cutting Marks Major Milestones for MacKay Sposito

Dec 04, 2025 in News

MacKay Sposito celebrates the acquisition of Burrell Consulting Group, and the opening of the new MacKay Sposito Roseville office, the first in California. MacKay Sposito team members were joined by the Roseville Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from Senator Roger Niello’s office.

MacKay Sposito celebrated an important moment in Northern California this month as employees, community partners, and members of the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce gathered for a ribbon cutting at our newly relocated Roseville office. The event marked the culmination of several meaningful milestones that reflect growth, alignment, and the start of a new chapter for our team in the region.

A ribbon cutting that symbolizes progress

The ribbon cutting was more than a ceremonial moment. It brought together long-time team members and new colleagues who joined in celebrating three major achievements:

  • The opening of our new office at 2000 Opportunity Drive
  • The leadership transition as Jerry Aplass steps into his new role and Paul Harmsen is introduced as Branch Manager
  • The official rebrand of Burrell Consulting Group to MacKay Sposito

With employees gathered around the entrance and representatives from the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce on hand to commemorate the occasion, the event captured the energy and optimism of this next chapter.

A unified identity and strengthened regional presence

The name transition from Burrell Consulting Group to MacKay Sposito represents the successful integration of our teams following the April 2025 acquisition. This move reinforces our commitment to expanding our presence in Northern California and aligns our people, expertise, and services under a shared purpose.

“Officially bringing the Burrell team under the MacKay Sposito name is an exciting moment for all of us,” said Derrick Smith, CEO. “The expertise and relationships this team has built over decades align closely with our values and vision. Today represents both continuity and progress, and we are proud to deepen our investment in the region.”

Leadership transitions that honor legacy and support the future

During the celebration, we recognized an important leadership transition.
Paul Harmsen has been named Branch Manager for the Roseville office, following years of leadership and commitment from Jerry Aplass, who now serves as Land Development Sector Lead for Northern California.

“I am honored to step into this role,” Harmsen said. “This team has a long history of delivering meaningful work for clients and communities throughout Northern California. I am excited for what lies ahead and grateful for the opportunity to help carry this legacy forward under our new name.”

Reflecting on more than three decades of work in the region, Aplass shared:
“After more than 30 years serving this region, ensuring the future success of our people and our clients has always been my top priority. Joining MacKay Sposito has provided us with the resources, support, and shared values needed to continue growing. It is very rewarding to see our work and our team move confidently into the future.”

A new space ready to serve clients and communities

The new Roseville office brings together land development, civil engineering, surveying, and planning services in a single location. This strengthens collaboration and enhances our ability to support clients across the region.
